Spontaneous demonstration against the unjustified outbursts of CMD / BSNL on 26-10-19 at Chennai.:
To record our strong protest immediately to the harsh speech of Shri.P.K. Purwar , both NFTE-BSNL in Chennai Telephones Circle and NFTCL, Tamilnadu jointly held a Spontaneous demonstration at Flower Bazaar complex within very short notice. Despite tomorrow is Deepawali hundreds of our comrades including dozen Contract Labourers thronged the Flower Bazaar complex by 4 pm. The protest Demonstration/ meeting was jointly presided over by Circle President Ramaswamy and State President Babu. Slogans condemning the CMD were raised by comrades Mahendran and CKM. Thereafter NUBSNLW (FNTO ) National Working President and Circle Secretary S.Lingamurthy and Comrade CKM spoke eloberately on the meetings with CMD yesterday & DOT Secretary today. Comrade CKM condemned the threatening and harsh speech of Shri. Puruwar, CMD who is deliberately trying to convert the VRS announced by the government into CRS by forcing all those employees who have completed the age of 50 years to avail the VRS and go home. His tenure in MTNL saw that company going from bad to worst. Hence he has no moral authority to criticize the employees of BSNL who kept the company afloat despite severe difficulties. His language was very rude and not suitable for the post he holds. Further his threat that if the required number of employees are not go out availing VRS , the reduction of retirement age will be implemented is utterly nonsense. He may not be aware of the fact that the BSNL employees receive their pension from government fund and hence unless the retirement age for Central Government employees is revised/ modified there is no legal option for any one to alter the retirement age of BSNL employees alone which will be a pure discrimination. Com.CKM assured the gathering that if CMD acts in madness then union will approach the court . He urged the management to effect immediate payment of wages to the Contract Labourers which is pending for almost six months. Circle Treasurer C.Ravi proposed vote of thanks.
