At Chennai Valluvar kottam area the Tamilnadu State-" SAVE BSNL FORUM "
held a massive Dharna on 24/10/19 . Forum President R.R.Balasubramanian( AIBSNLOA) presided . State Co-ordinator C.K.Mathivanan(NFTE- BSNL), State Working President S.Lingmurthy ( FNTO), State Dy.Coordinators J.Vijayakumar ( TEPU),. P.Shanmugam( TN Circle NFTE- BSNL),Comrades V.Babu( NFTCL), State Asst.Treasurer S. Loganathan ( SEWA-BSNL), State Vice-President K.Arumugam( PEWA-BSNL), Suresh ( T.N.Circle AIBSNLOA) and others took part and spoke. More than 250 Comrades of all unions and associations enthusiastically participated. Slogans were effectively shouted by Com.G.Mahendran, Circle Vice-president of NFTE-BSNL .
The unanimous opinion of the SBF was expressed in this Dharna which appreciated and thanked the Government of India for announcing a revival package putting an end to all sorts of rumours and false campaign against BSNL. It also demanded the allocation of 5G to BSNL as and when it is allocated to private telcos.The forum insisted that the government of India pay its dues to BSNL which is approximately rupees 6800 crores immediately. It also appealed to the Government to reduce the price of 4G Spectrum at the rate very much lower than the 2016 auction bid price as four years have already passed. Further the Forum leaders urged the government to implement the earlier assurances given to the employees of DTS on the eve of Corporatisation by the then Vajpayee Government which were subsequently approved by the Union Government's Cabinet.
The Forum expressed its anguish on the unfolding scenerio in the aftermath of "attractive" VRS . As large number of staff may avail the irresistable Offer on VRS the services will be left unmanned at all places as now itself BSNL is experiencing acute staff shortage sue to retirement and deaths. At the end the Dharna resolved to approach the Prime Minister with a request to attend the left out issues.
