Our Comrade Mari is working as an Accounts officer in Karaikudi District BSNL. He is currently holding the posts of District Secretary ( NFTE ) and Tamilnadu State Working President ( NFTCL ) in trade union and a known fighter and tireless leader of the working people of not only Karaikudi but also of entire Tamilnadu including Chennai Metro city. He is a honest comrade and sincere to his duties and responsibilities. He did not hesitate to question the irregularities by the management or the Governments and never bowed before the Powerful forces both in the management and Trade Union. For this uncompromising attitude he had to pay a very heavy harassment and victimisations often in the form of transfers and denial of Promotions. But he never wavered or Surrendered before the Management. He continued to work for the workers including Contract Labourers without any let up . Now it is understood that a pending transfer order to Nagercoil which was kept in abeyance for more than a year seems to be readied to shift him from Karaikudi. For this now a plot is being readied and the screen play is also being written by the PGM ( Trichy) under the instructions from above or below.He is a District Secretary of a recognised union having the immunity from transfer. Yet CGM/ Tamilnadu has the guts to keep a transfer order for this District Secretary of NFTE hanging like a sword over his head. Why this particular transfer for this particular District Secretary was not cancelled and instead kept in abeyance for years ? This is puzzling us and make us to suspect any conspiracy against this comrade hatched at the top . We were told that this Comrade is being held sole responsible for the inefficient functioning and low performance of the whole SSA of Karaikudi. Is it possible for a single person to stop the developmental activities in a SSA ? We differ with this Story and wish to question that what are all the actions taken against this comrade during the intervening period for his so-called lapses and for his under performance? What the others like PGM/ GM/ DGM/ DEs/ CAO/ AOs/ JAOs/ SDEs/ JTOs and other non- executive employees are doing for arresting this slide in Karaikudi SSA ? In fact the performance of the Trichy SSA under the present PGM Raju is also not good and upto the desired level as per the data available. Can any one fix the sole responsibility for below average performance of both Trichy and Karaikudi SSA on the shoulders of Mr. Raju alone ? No . It is not fair to blame any one in the system for its failures as it is a collective responsibility of all concerned. If for example Mr. Raju is shifted from Trichy will it automatically make that SSA profitable and ensure better performance levels there. Simply No. Every where no individual could make or break the system running but if any shortcomings are there it should be attended collectively and constructively.
As Comrade V. Mari is the Tamilnadu State Working President of Contract Labourers Federation ( NFTCL) the state Executive meeting of the Federation held on 28-04-17 at Tirunelveli unanimously decided to go in for a Strong trade union action including gherao at CGM office in Chennai to annul if any transfer order is effected for Com . V. Mari in a partisan manner to victimise him for his legitimate trade union activities which are guaranteed by the Trade Union Act , 1926.Let us hope that a better sense will prevail upon and the fragile industrial peace is not disturbed unnecessarily. I as the General Secretary is intend to make these points clear to both the PGM( Trichy) and CGM ( Tamilnadu) through a written communication immediately.
